Peter "Pistil" Maravich

Peter “Pistil” Maravich was one of the best NBA basketball players ever. He was born on June 22, 1947 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He attended college at LSU and was a three time all American there. Also one amazing fact is that he achieved all his records before the three point line was introduced to the game of basketball. Then to go with some of his achievements he was the youngest player ever to be inducted into the hall of fame. In his NBA career he had a scoring average of 24.2 points per game. Pete was also a five time NBA all star, and was first team all-pro in the years 1976- 1977. Pete died suddenly in a pickup game of basketball January 5, 1988, and his death was because of a undetected heart defect. The tragedy of Pete’s death struck the United States, and just like that one of the greatest NBA basketball players was dead.
Pete Maravich has probably had a shorter life than other, but before his death people had gotten enough information about him to make a movie. The movie about Pete is call Pistil the Birth of a Legend, and the movie is about Pistil’s high school years.

Blake Griffin

Blake Austin Griffin came into the world on March 16, 1989. He is 6 foot 10 inch power forward for the Los Angeles Clippers and has been for the past three years. He was the first overall pick in the NBA draft in 2009, and he played college basketball for Oklahoma. If you are ever looking for an amazing dunker Blake Griffin is the man to see, once he jumped over a car in the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk contest. Blake can jump an outstanding 37” of the ground that is 3’ 1”, so that explains how he is one of the best dunkers ever. If you add Griffin’s height with his vertical jump it is 9 feet 11 inches, plus his arm length and that would mean he could get his head about as high as the rim. Griffin probably got his Athleticism from his father who was outstanding in track and basketball, and his father coached Blake in his high school years of basketball. Blake Griffin Also has an older brother that plays basketball for the Phoenix Suns named Taylor Griffin. Blake’s favorite basketball players when he was growing up were Shaquille O’ Neal and Michael Jordan, and his favorite team was the Phoenix Suns. In his younger days Blake didn’t just play basketball he played football also.

Anthony Davis

One Basketball player who you should probably get to know if you don’t know him already is Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is a freshman Basketball player for the Kentucky Wild Cats. He was born on March11, 1993 in Chicago. He is Number 23 and plays the position of either the forward or center. Next is that he played high school basketball for Perspectives Charter School in Chicago, Illinois. When he was a junior in high school he was known for shooting threes from the right corner.  To go with that he was 6’7” and he is now 6’10”. Also when he was a sophomore he was only 6’4”, so he grew 3 inches in one year. Right now he is known for his blocked shots, rebounds, and dunks. Davis has been playing basketball for just about all of his life, and it is his favorite sport. In his freshman year he set a record of blocked shots with 116 blocked shots in just one year of basketball, and if you ask me that is quite a bit.

Davis also has family and he is the son of Anthony Davis Sr., he has a twin sister named Antoinette, and a older sister named Lesha.

One of the best player’s that was forced to quit his NBA career was Earvin Johnson. He was forced to quit because he had a serious disease that could affect others NBA players. The disease Earvin was diagnosed was HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. He was most commonly known to the fans as Magic Johnson, so usually if you here his name you probably won’t here Earvin but probably Magic. Magic played from 1979- 1991 and one year in 1996. For a majority of his career he played for the Los Angeles Lakers. Magic’s number one rivalry was Boston Celtics star point guard Larry Bird.

Wilt Chamberlain (basketball player) was a 7’1” center who played a majority of his career with the 76ers and the Lakers. His biggest rival ever was Celtics Bill Russell. I will be blogging about Michael Jordan, and facts about him. Michael Jordan is known for one of the best shooting guards ever to play the game of basketball. Also Michael did play Right field for the Chicago White Sox for 2 years. Then back to basketball his rookie year was for the bulls in ’96. He was very successful in basketball and scored 32,292 points through his whole NBA career. He also has baseball and basketball cards of him, and his most expensive card is his 1986 Topps basketball card, and that can cost as much as 10,000 dollars in mint condition. Michael Jordan was also elected into the NBA hall of fame in 2009. Next is that he was named MVP of the year five times in his career. And with that he is a ten time NBA leading scorer. Not only could he have his fame on the court but he has the record of being on the cover of sports illustrated 49 times. He went to college for North Carolina and played basketball for them. Then usually whenever he went up to dunk he would stick his tongue out, that was his trademark move. Also he has his own brand of clothing.
Michael family has six members and they are Deloris Jordan (mother), James Jordan (Father), James R. Jordan Jr. (brother), Larry Jordan (brother), Roslyn Jordan (sister), and Deloris Jordan (sister). Michael is very dedicated to his family and his work that he puts in to playing ball.

Lebron

I will be blogging about Lebron James today one of my favorite NBA stars. Lebron Started basketball when he was just a little tike in his hometown Akron, Ohio. Also Lebron’s dad left Lebron because he could not really handle having a kid in his older teens. One thing I wonder is how does Lebron’s real dad feel right now? If I were him I would be really devastated because his son is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. Lebron has a talent that very few people have; he can do just about anything in the game of basketball. One of the many reasons I like Lebron is because he is amazing and he is not a ball hog on the court. Then he puts on a show for the crowd with his dunks, three-pointers, ball handling skills, and passes. Also I love the story about his him and his high school team, and all the hardships him and his teams fought through. In the movie it shows how tough life was for Lebron growing up.
Lebron played high school basketball with St. Vincent- St. Mary high school in Akron. He didn’t go to college and was selected first overall in the NBA draft.
